Mr. De Smet has over 15 years of project and operations management experience, 10 of which while in Greater China. Prior to joining Cartis, Mr. De Smet has held several senior management, operation and business development roles for international companies in the United States and China. Work includes leading numerous multi-million dollar development projects, directing several US-China international technology transfer projects, and spearheading international partnership development for global 500 companies. Mr. De Smet has worked in various operating and management roles for or on behalf of numerous multinationals, including Agilent Technologies, Applied Materials, Heineken Beer, Honeywell, HP, Sealand (now part of Maersk) Shipping Lines, Network Appliance, P&G, Philip Morris, and Tait Asia Limited. Fitz De Smet holds a BA in Economics from Colgate University (NY, USA) and an MBA in Marketing and Information Technologies from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University (IL, USA). He is a native speaker of English and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
